USTFA Board Member Spotlight: Brittany Peachey

We are thrilled to spotlight USTFA Board Member Brittany Peachey, who is bringing cutting-edge aquaculture management and a deep passion for food security to our organization.

Based in Hudson, New York, Brittany serves as the Aquaculture Operations Manager at Hudson Valley Fisheries, a state-of-the-art recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) facility. There, she oversees the daily care and growth of high-quality steelhead trout.

Feeding Families, Sustaining Communities

For Brittany, the daily work of fish farming is tied to a clear and meaningful purpose. When asked about her favorite aspect of the job, she shares a sentiment that resonates across our entire industry:

“I love growing fish and knowing that people will be using them to feed themselves, their families, and their friends. Being able to contribute to people’s healthy, nutritious, and delicious meals is very fulfilling.”

That dedication to providing sustainable nutrition is exactly why she stepped up to serve our national community. “I’m proud to be a Board Member of the USTFA,” she notes, emphasizing her commitment to advocating for trout producers across the United States.

Life Outside the Tanks

When she isn’t managing advanced water systems or checking on fish health, Brittany stays busy on land. Her home life in upstate New York involves “taking care of my dogs and chickens,” and she also participates in the unique and fast-paced sport of “cowboy action shooting” – a competitive shooting discipline that celebrates the spirit of the Old West.

In the Kitchen: Miso Butter Steelhead

Brittany is also a big fan of enjoying the literal fruits of her labor. When it comes to her favorite preparation, she looks to classic, savory umami flavors with a quick substitution. Her go-to recipe is a Miso Butter Steelhead, adapted directly from a popular Japanese culinary favorite. Her simple instructions? Just “swap salmon out of course” for a rich, perfectly glazed steelhead trout fillet.
