Supplied with artesian spring water from a 19th century limestone quarry, Limestone Springs Trout Hatchery and Fishing Preserve near Myerstown, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, offers recreational rainbow trout fishing daily all year round, as well as trout stocking and food service trout products round. What was once a portion of the historic Union Canal is now a series of pools teaming with ready to catch and eat trout. Experts and novice fisherman alike can enjoy a day’s fishing with no Pa. Fishing License required! Trout cleaning is also offered at our new check-in office. The unique system of water use in the raceway style farm allows year-round harvest, ideally suited to supply our food service customers with the freshest trout possible at any time of the year.
Extensive scientific research shows that farm-raised trout are a high-quality, nutritious food that is rich in Omega-3 fatty acids. Experts recommend two weekly meals (12 ounces) of fatty fish which are high in Omega-3 fatty acids. Limestone Springs farm- raised trout are low in saturated fat, high in protein, provide valuable vitamins and minerals and contain high levels of the Omega-3 fatty acids that are important to human health. Our trout are fed a well-balanced all-natural feed, which keeps them healthy and tasting great!
On the food service side, Limestone offers a variety of sizes and cuts. We sell whole, dressed (gutted), boned, butterfly, and boneless fillets. You can visit our website for the descriptions and pictures of the various cuts. How to buy? We offer a webstore so you can order from the comfort of your own home and delivered to your doorstep. Or if you can visit our farm, you can order fish and have them cleaned to take home. Our “walk-in” business has grown tremendously over the years. As always, if you visit our farm for fresh fish, your fish are still swimming at the time of purchase!
Limestone also offers a frozen smoked trout fillet that is individually packaged. All you have to do is thaw and eat! The smoked trout is also at the farm ready for purchase.
All this is possible because for the dedicated staff at Limestone Springs. We employ up to 15 full and part time people, which is comprised of 40% female employees.
