Description:
The drive to expand opportunities for aquaculture in the U.S. has picked up steam over the past year, as Congress has debated the issue and the seafood industry has increased its advocacy. Founded in 1991, the nonprofit National Aquaculture Association is a primary vessel through which those efforts have been channeled. Join NAA President Sebastian Belle and NAA Executive Director Paul Zajicek as they discuss whys, hows, and whats of NAA advocacy before Congress and U.S. federal agencies. They will discuss how they’re tackling the two primary challenges currently facing the U.S. aquaculture industry – the farmer’s perspective being largely missing at the federal level, and a trend in the U.S. away from growing food in favor of imports.
