AQUA CARE365 was designed to complement and help fulfill the animal care requirements of seafood certification and stewardship programs for aquaculture.
Merck Animal Health’s Aqua Care365 is an educational initiative to support fish farmers in improving care for their operations. The program provides training modules featuring industry experts, interactive quizzes, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and certificates of completion.
The first module, led by Professor Jimmy Turnbull, focuses on recognizing normal and abnormal salmon behavior. It emphasizes the importance of observing fish movements to detect health issues early. The program also highlights the role of SOPs in maintaining care standards and suggests farm managers collaborate with veterinarians to develop them.
Additional modules cover sea pen handling, fish examination, and more. Farmers can access the training at Merck’s website, where they can complete quizzes and earn certificates.
