Amazon has rolled out perishable grocery delivery – including fresh seafood – to customers in more than 1,000 U.S. cities, following successful pilots in Phoenix, Arizona, and Orlando, Florida. The expansion integrates thousands of fresh items into Amazon’s existing Same-Day Delivery network, with plans to reach over 2,300 cities by year-end.
Fresh seafood now available includes Whole Foods Market’s Chilean sea bass fillets and Mowi’s 12-ounce fresh Atlantic salmon portions (USD 9.99 / EUR 8.60). Orders are fulfilled through Amazon’s temperature-controlled logistics system, featuring a six-point quality check and insulated, curbside-recyclable delivery bags.
Amazon said the move represents one of its most significant grocery expansions to date, with early results showing customers who tried fresh food via Same-Day Delivery are now shopping twice as often compared to those who haven’t.
