USDA’s Division of Animal Systems updated its information on September 11, emphasizing federal research priorities that include aquaculture production, animal disease diagnostics, applied research, nutrition, growth, disease prevention and biosecurity.

USDA NIFA specifically identifies aquaculture as an area for federal research support and highlights efforts to improve the security, resilience, competitiveness and sustainability of animal agriculture.

The priorities reinforce opportunities for trout producers and industry organizations to engage with federally supported research on fish health, disease prevention, nutrition, production efficiency and biosecurity. These areas are particularly important as U.S. trout farming expands and producers seek to improve productivity while reducing disease and operational risks.
