Our Mission
The United States Trout Farmers Association (USTFA) promotes the sustainable production of trout and supports continued development of environmentally responsible aquaculture throughout the United States.
Since 1954
USTFA is the longest standing commercial aquaculture trade organization in the United States. Organized in 1954 by a group of trout farmers aimed at creating a strong, unified voice for the national trout industry, the USTFA has grown steadily and now has members in nearly every state as well as some foreign countries. In 1956 the association began publishing the first commercial aquaculture magazine, US Trout News & American Fishes. Today, Trout Talk is the official newsletter of the USTFA.
Membership in the Association includes individuals and companies engaged in producing, raising, processing, and marketing trout for eggs, broodstock, recreation, and food. Suppliers of products and services to the commercial trout industry are also an important segment of the USTFA membership. Every association member receives a subscription to Trout Talk, a free listing within the Product & Services Directory, reduced rates at annual meetings and on promotional materials, and email alerts and updates from the National Aquaculture Association (NAA) through USTFA’s membership in NAA. Patron and Active members receive a member in good standing sign for posting at their business site.
Objectives
The United States Trout Farmers Association is committed to:
- Protecting and ensuring the best interests of trout farmers throughout the United States with regard to legislative advocacy.
- Promoting all aspects of the trout industry in the United States.
- Cooperating with related stakeholders on matters affecting the business and common interests of USTFA members.
- Serving as a conduit for the exchange of ideas and dissemination of information to USTFA members and the public.
- Establishing the image of a fairly-priced, quality product in the marketplace.
- Fostering relationship among all USTFA members.
